"Lewiston Veterinary Clinic was invited to attend one of WA Insurance Group & Winona Agency’s workers’ compensation seminars. These seminars were meant to educate businesses on the cost drivers of work comp premiums. We had previously been insured with a local agency for many years. Our work comp insurance had been placed in the pool due to the type of risk and claims we experience providing large animal veterinary services. We attended the seminar, then met with WA staff to see if we would be able to reduce our work comp expense. By doing this, we were able to get out of the pool and save close to $10,000 in premium. When our audit came through with our previous work comp carrier, we were assessed $6,000 additional premium based on increases in payroll. WA Insurance Group & Winona Agency reviewed the audit for us. Through their Comp Check System, they were able to identify some employee payroll that was misclassified.
